PGC has ‘Chick Party’ meeting

“Chick Party” was the theme of Patterson Garden Club’s monthly meeting Jan. 19.
Member Fedora Boudreaux and her daughter, Hannah Boudreaux, presented information on raising chickens and collecting eggs. The Boudreaux family raises about 30 chickens.
Hostesses for the meeting were Linda Thomas and Sandra Marshall.
President Juanita Bienvenu called the meeting to order and discussed pertinent topics for January. The Ways and Means fundraiser and the Saints pool were a success. The club extended thanks to everyone who supported the fundraisers.
In celebration of Arbor Day, a new stone marker will replace an old one for the late Claire Sawyer, who was a longtime club member. A new tree will not be planted.
Horticulture Chairman Gretchen Lambert offered tips for the health of lilies in the garden.
Thomas won the half and half drawing.
The next meeting will be Feb. 16 with a presentation about beekeeping presented by area beekeeper Luke Bienvenu. New members are invited to attend.
