Recalls: Liquid Plumr, safety gates

More than 5 million bottles of Liquid Plumr are being recalled because they are not child-resistant and pose a serious risk of poisoning. Other recalled products include IKEA safety gates that are defective.

Liquid Plumber Clog Remover
DETAILS: Three types of Liquid Plumr products sold in 17 ounce bottles from January 2012 through May 2016. They have the Liquid Plumr logo and the name of the product on the front. The products include Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Foaming Clog Fighter, formerly sold as Slow Flow Fighter with UPC Code 44600-00214, Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Urgent Clear with UPC Code 44600-30548 and Liquid Plumr Industrial Strength Urgent Clear with UPC Code 44600-31484. The UPC code is printed in the lower left corner on the back of the bottle. Only bottles made before March 22, 2016 are included in this recall.
WHY: The recalled bottles are not child-resistant and children can remove the top, posing a risk of chemical burns and irritation to the skin and eyes. These products contain sodium hydroxide which is required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act to be sealed with child-resistant packaging.

Safety Gates
DETAILS: IKEA Patrull, Patrull Fast and Patrull Klama safety gates and safety gate extensions sold from August 1995 through June 2016. The gates and gate extensions are white, made of beech wood or steel and plastic. A permanent label is attached to the metal bar at the bottom of the safety gate containing “IKEA” and the article number. The Patrull safety gate has article number 702.390.98. The Patrull safety gate extension has article number 602.651.44. The Patrull Fast safety gate (white) has article number 700.377.26 and 702.265.19. The Patrull Fastsafety gate (beech wood) has article numbers 300.375.68, 700.989.51, 701.135.98 and 901.919.53. The Patrull Klamma safety gate has article number 302.265.21. The Patrull Klamma safety gate extension has article numbers 302.651.45 and 902.265.23.
WHY: The locking mechanism can open unexpectedly, posing a danger to children and other consumers.

Dressers and Nightstands
DETAILS: Marquesa mirrored glass front dressers with model number 359-044 and Marquesa mirrored glass front nightstands with model number 359-234. The series and style numbers are printed on a white label on the back of the product. The first three characters of the number will be 359 followed by the style number. They were sold at independent furniture stores nationwide from March 2015 through May 2016.
WHY: The recalled dressers are unstable if they are not properly anchored to the wall, posing a serious tip-over and entrapment hazard that can result in death or injuries to children.

Floor Lamps
DETAILS: Brown metal floor lamps with alabaster glass shades. The model numbers LMP4229, LMP4168 and LMP10771 can be found on the label at the bottom of the lamps. They were sold at mall retail stores located in the New York metropolitan area and online at Amazon.com, Houzz.com, Target.com and Wayfair.com from February 2016 to April 2016.
WHY: The lamps can short circuit due to defective sockets, posing fire and shock hazards.
INCIDENTS: Three reports of the lamp’s sockets burning and smoking. No injuries have been reported.

Toilet Flushing Systems
DETAILS: Series 503 Flushmate III Pressure Assist flushing systems installed inside toilet tanks that were made from July 2009 through April 2011. Previously recalled systems were made from October 1997 through June 2009. Recalled units have a date code/serial number that is 16 characters long and is located on the label on the top of the Flushmate III. The first six numerals of the serial number are the date code. The date code range for units included in this recall in MMDDYY format is 070109 (July 1, 2009) through 043011 (April 30, 2011). The date code range for previously recalled systems in MMDDYY format was 101497 (October 14, 1997) through 063009 (June 30, 2009). Units included in this recall were sold individually and installed in toilets made by American Standard, Copperfit, Crane, Ecotech, Eljer, Gerber, Kohler, Lamosa, Mancesa, Mansfield, Orion, St. Thomas, Universal Rundle, Vitra, Vitromex, Vortens and Western Pottery. They were sold at Home Depot and Lowe’s stores, toilet manufacturers, distributors and plumbing contractors nationwide from 2009 through 2011.
WHY: The system can burst at or near the vessel weld seam, releasing stored pressure. This pressure can lift the tank lid and shatter the tank, posing impact and laceration hazards to consumers and property damage.

Water Dispensers
DETAILS: Nestlé Waters North America AccuPure countertop water filtration dispensers. The units connect to the plumbing system, draw water from the system, filter the water and dispense hot and cold water through the unit. “AccuPure” is printed on the front and side panels. The model number is HCB215n and is printed on the back of the water dispensers. The units were sold and rented to businesses nationwide for consumer use from January 2013 to May 2016 as part of individual service contracts that Nestlé Waters has with these customers.
WHY: The water dispensers can overheat, causing internal parts to melt and smoke. This poses burn and fire hazards.
