Six to vie for Shrimp and Petroleum Festival crown on Aug. 23

Six young women from the Tri-City area will vie for the title of 79th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival queen on Aug. 23.
The coronation and ball will be held at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. The coronation will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by the ball.
Coronation tickets at the door are $7 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets for the ball are sold out.
Vying for the title will be:
Katelyn Adams, 18-year-old daughter of Dean and Sheila Adams, of Morgan City, is a graduate of Morgan City High School. She attends the Omega Institute of Cosmetology.
During her years in high school she was active in softball and volleyball, and was on the homecoming court.
She enjoys traveling and the outdoors.
Caroline Byrne, 19-year-old daughter of Gerard and Gerrie Byrne, of Berwick, is attending Louisiana State University majoring in mass communications with a concentration in public relations.
Her interests include kickboxing, writing, reading, and exploring Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Traci Glynn, of Morgan City, is the 19-year-old daughter, of Kirt Glynn and Bridgett Richard. She is a graduate of Morgan City High School and attends Fletcher Technical Community College studying cardiopulmonary science.
She enjoys traveling, cooking and couponing.
Kimberly Guarisco, of Patterson, is the 19-year-old daughter of Vince Guarisco and Shannon Duplantis. She graduated Berwick High School and attends Nicholls State University majoring in psychology.
During her high school years she was a member of the softball team and Top Cats dance team.
Her interest in dance leads her to teach dance to others.
Shelby Lancon, 18-year-old daughter of Wayne Lancon and Bobbye Castaneda, of Morgan City, is a graduate of Berwick High School. She attends the University of Louisiana at Monroe majoring in pre-pharmacy.
At ULM, she is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity. She participated in March of Dimes, her fraternity’s Strikes Out Arthritis, Run for Miles and The St. Joseph Table.
She enjoys swimming, tennis and dancing.
Hailee Thomas, 19-year-old daughter of Seth and Mary Thomas, of Morgan City, is a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Morgan City. She attends the University of Louisiana at Lafayette majoring in interior design.
Her interests include helping others, painting, drawing, crafting and do-it-yourself projects.
