St. Mary AARP holds April meeting

On April 7, the St. Mary AARP held its monthly dinner and meeting. Sponsoring the meal of beef stew was Teche Federal Bank. Cooks were Myrt and Mac McNemar, and Judy and Billy Giroir.
Vice President Floyd Hymel chaired the meeting with Hubert Francis singing the national anthem and AnnEtta Lombardo led the blessing.
Mandy Fryou and Chris Breaux from Teche Federal addressed member about phone scams and the dangers of releasing personal information over the phone.
In AARP news:
—Two new trips have been scheduled. The National AARP convention trip to San Diego is Sept 3 to 7. The cost is $956.20 (double occupancy) and includes flight, hotel, convention, most meals, a dinner cruise and a play at a theater. A Branson Christmas trip will be Nov. 16 to 20. The cost is $490 (double occupancy) and includes bus fare, hotel, most meals, and multiple shows and entertainment. Contact the St. Mary AARP office at 985-384-2277 with any questions or to reserve a spot. A $100 deposit is required per trip.
—The April chapter meal will be April 29 at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City.
—Bingo is Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to members and the public.
The next St. Mary AARP meeting is May 5. Klutts Jewelers is sponsoring the meal of spaghetti and meat sauce.
