St. Mary AARP holds October meeting

St. Mary Parish AARP held its monthly meeting Oct. 3 at the St. Mary Senior Citizen’s Center in Morgan City.
Prior to the meeting, members and guests were entertained with dance music from 4 to 5:30 p.m., followed by bingo until 6:15 p.m.
The meeting and meal sponsors for October were St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert and State Sen. Brett Allain. Meeting attendees were served shrimp stew, rice, potato salad and peas. The meal was prepared by Floyd Hymel and his cooking team.
A cake, donated by M C Bank, was dessert and to recognize birthday and anniversary celebrants.
Hebert and Allain each addressed the members. Other speakers included Berwick Mayor Pro-tem Jacki Ackel, who spoke about the Berwick Lighthouse Festival, and Keith Pinho, community educator from Haydel Memorial Hospice.
