St. Mary AARP holds September meeting

St. Mary AARP Chapter 4435 held their Sept. 14 meeting at the St. Mary Senior Citizens Center in Morgan City. Chairing the meeting was Vice President Floyd Hymel.
The meal of shrimp stew and potato salad was prepared by Hymel and his wife, Shirley. Meal sponsors were Sen. Brett Allain, R-Franklin, and St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert. Both addressed members. Also speaking were 16th Judicial District Attorney Bo Duhe, and Tyra Darnell, a personal care attendant.
Birthday cake for the meeting was donated by M C Bank and the coffee was donated by Urgent Care of Morgan City and MidSouth Bank.
Walgreens was on hand to administer flu shots before the meeting.
Hymel introduced the list of candidates for St. Mary AARP officer and board member positions. The election will be held at the Nov. 2 AARP meeting.
The next meeting on Monday will feature a meal of meatloaf and gravy, sponsored by Nick LaRocca and David Hanagriff. Entertainment will be a special dance troupe.
