Veterans Day recognized at St. Mary AARP meeting

In honor of Veterans Day, four St. Mary AARP members who are veterans, presented the colors and saluted the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem at the Nov. 7 St. Mary AARP meeting. Member Gordon Smith sang the National Anthem.
Prior to the meeting at the St. Mary Senior Citizens Center in Morgan City, members and guests were entertained with dance music from 4 to 5:30 p.m., followed by bingo until 6:15 p.m.
Speakers were meal and meeting sponsors Dr. Jared Thurston of Thurston Ophthalmology in Morgan City and Candace Dinger, location manager at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.
Meeting attendees were served a meal of chicken and sausage gumbo and potato salad. The meal was prepared by Floyd Hymel and his cooking team.
Birthday and anniversary celebrants were recognized with a cake donated by M C Bank.
