Watercolor workshop starts July 11

Artists Guild Unlimited is offering “The Color of Light in Watercolor” workshop by Cheri Fry, instructor. The workshop is July 11 to 13 at the guild’s Everett Street Gallery in Morgan City. Subject of the workshop will be cane fields and oaks.
Fry is a new active associate of Louisiana Watercolor Society and has taught for more than 20 years, the news release said. She has been recognized at local, regional and national levels.
Lessons include a fast charcoal value study to establish the composition and use of light in the painting; and to complete a watercolor painting based on the charcoal study. Discussions will touch on composition, values, movement, balance and light, the release said. Setting up a color palette and use of varied painting techniques will be covered throughout the workshop.
Registration is open to skill levels from beginners to advanced. Fees are $50 for guild members (refundable upon completion) and $75 for non-members, according to the guild’s news release. Supply list will be furnished upon paid registration. Payment is requested by July 7 to avoid a waiting list.
Lunch will be provided on July 12 and snacks throughout the weekend.
