2 nabbed in armed robbery
Two men are in jail today accused of armed robbery at the Dollar General Store in Franklin.
Franklin Police received a call from a citizen Sunday at 6:41 p.m. of an armed robbery apparently occurring at the store on Joy Hoy Drive.
Police officers arrived in less than a minute, Chief Sabria McGuire said, as well as St. Mary Sheriff’s deputies. The suspects took off in a vehicle and were apprehended after a short chase.
Dinitivia Alexis, 20, of Robertson Street, New Iberia, was charged with armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, flight from an officer and aggravated kidnapping.
Earl Brown, 26, of New Iberia, was charged with armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, flight from an officer and aggravated kidnapping.
The kidnapping charges resulted from holding the store clerks at gunpoint, McGuire said.
No bonds were set and the investigation is continuing.
