3-vehicle wreck in Morgan City occurs as woman flees hit and run
A woman suspected of a hit and run accident in Lafourche Parish struck two other vehicles near Brashear Avenue and Seventh Street about 1 p.m. and she was transported to an area hospital, Louisiana State Police Troop C Lt. Jody Blanchard said.
The unidentified woman, driving a Chevrolet Silverado, was suspected of possible impairment in the accident, Blanchard said. She was suspected of being involved in an earlier accident somewhere on La. 308 in Lafourche Parish, Blanchard added.
A driver reported being struck by the Suburban somewhere on La. 308 in Lafourche Parish, Blanchard said. State police located the Silverado near Amelia with the help of the person struck in the earlier accident who was on the phone with state police, Blanchard said.
State police deployed highway spikes in Amelia an effort to get the Silverado driver to stop, Blanchard said. The front tires deflated, but the vehicle continued driving erratically down La. 182, until crashing near Cannata’s in Morgan City, he said.
The extent of the woman’s injuries were unknown, but she was transported by Acadian Ambulance. The unidentified drivers in a Ford SUV and a Ford Excursion were not treated on scene for injuries, Blanchard said.
