4 nabbed in local drug bust

Sheriff’s deputies following up on an earlier complaint ended up arresting four people on drug charges Tuesday.
According to Sheriff Mark Hebert, a deputy went to 367 Pinell Lane in Baldwin to conduct a follow-up investigation Tuesday near noon into a previous complaint. The deputy reportedly smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from a mobile home.
The deputy made brief contact with a male subject inside the residence and ordered him to come outside. The subject reportedly refused to comply and slammed the door. The deputy allegedly heard the continuous sound of running, rushing water and smelled the odor of marijuana from the sewer pipes beneath the home.
The occupants of the residence were ordered to exit the home. While securing the residence, the deputy reportedly observed marijuana in and around a toilet.
Narcotics Divisions detectives were then contacted to assist in the investigation. Detectives obtained a warrant to search the residence and reportedly located a large amount of loose marijuana and multiple plastic baggies containing marijuana in the pipes beneath the toilet. Detectives also reportedly found digital scales, additional marijuana, and four types of legend drug pills in the residence, which is located near a church.
