Routine maintenance dredging has been going on for about the past month in the Atchafalaya River surrounding the Port of Morgan City, Port Executive Director Raymond “Mac” Wade said. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredges the harbor once a year between Morgan City and Berwick, Wade said. The contract also includes dredging a spot on the Calumet Cut on the Intracoastal Waterway, he said. “They probably won’t be there for about a month,” Wade said. Dredging will continue in the Morgan City area for about another month, Wade said.
