Aucoin elected Chief Judge
Judge Gregory P. Aucoin, 16th Judicial District Court Judge representing St. Mary, St. Martin and Iberia Parishes, has been elected by his fellow judges to serve as Chief Judge of the court.
He will server one year from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2016.
The Chief Judge presides over the meetings of the judges, calls special meetings when necessary, approves the attendance of special guests and may accept volunteers and/or appoint judges to serve on committees to address specific needs.
The Chief Judge has the responsibility to receive and handle correspondence directed to the court, including information from the Louisiana Supreme Court, sign all documents, contracts, agreements and any other documents as necessary and approved by the judges. The Chief Judge is the primary point of contact for the vourt.
