Audit: Good marks for St. Mary Community Action Agency

The St. Mary Parish Community Action Agency’s latest audit showed all positive results, according to a report published today.
Pitts & Matte CPA firm performed the audit for the year ended March 31. The audit report was released this morning on the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s website.
The agency, also known as the St. Mary Community Action Committee Association, is a nonprofit corporation designated as the parish’s official agency for the enactment and oversight of social, education and welfare programs for St. Mary Parish citizens, including the operation of the local Head Start program.
The agency also operates the Head Start program and certain other programs for Vermilion Parish. The agency receives federal, state and local funding to operate its various programs.
The report expressed an unmodified opinion, or the most positive opinion possible, on the association’s financial statements and on compliance for the agency’s major federal award programs. No control deficiency was disclosed during the audit of the financial statements.
No instances of noncompliance material to the financial statements of the agency’s statements were disclosed during the audit, and no findings were disclosed during the audit of the major federal award programs.
The two programs tested as major programs included Weatherization Assistance for Low-Income Persons and Head Start.
Auditors determined the agency to be a low risk auditee. They found no matters required to be reported on financial statement findings and questioned costs for major federal award programs.
