Berwick joins Independence Day bash

Berwick is playing a bigger part in Rock the Fifth, the patriotic celebration, this year.
The July 5 celebration will include music from the ‘70s and ‘80s by the band Gone Pecan.
The Berwick Volunteer Fire Department will sell hamburgers, cold drinks and beer.
The Big Chill will sell hot dogs, nachos and snowballs.
The highlight of the evening will be the fireworks on the water.
The event will coincide with a similar celebration across the river in Morgan City.
Berwick Mayor Louis Ratcliff said he and the Town Council are excited by the opportunity to provide fun for people who come to the riverfront for the annual fireworks.
“We always have a good crowd on our side of the river, so we wanted to show our appreciation for them coming to Berwick by providing some good South Louisiana fun -- music, dancing and food.
“This is a great opportunity for some who may not have visited our riverfront in a while to see the improvements and beautification we have recently added. ...”
Fire Chief Allen Rink said he’s happy the event will help raise money for the town’s volunteer fire department.
