CAA acknowledges teachers

A teacher is a friend, mentor, and one of the most important and influential persons in a child’s life.
St. Mary and Vermillion Community Action Agency and Head Start are recognizing the contributions of teachers to its programs and across the educational system.
“St. Mary and Vermilion Community Action Agency and Head Start value the time and effort our teachers and teacher assistants put forth in developing and educating our children,” Community Action CEO Almetra Franklin said. “Many teachers have been with us in different capacities as cooks, bus drivers, and volunteer parents, for well over 15 years, while some have come from different states and places. It is important to take time and appreciate all the things teachers do for the students including academics, giving love, encouragement and confidence.”
SMCAA has 13 Head Start centers with 37 teachers and 37 teacher assistants, all of whom are passionate about their work and diligently give time to educate and nurture children. “Many of the 3-5-year-old children from St. Mary and Vermilion parishes get a great foundation for their education because our teachers love what they do,” Franklin said. “This week May 2-6, is Teacher Appreciation week. We would like to take time to recognize and applaud the accomplishments of all of our instructors, and remind them how special they are to us. Our teachers help shape the educational landscape for so many children who go on to be our future doctors, lawyers, and political leaders. They are the ones who reinforce self-assurance in parents, wipe tears and runny noses, and teach educational songs never forget.”
Franklin said that “none of our Head Start students’ success would be possible without the teachers’ daily contributions. Some teachers will be the favorite, most influential, and best teacher of these Head Start students. St. Mary and Vermilion CAA and Head Start expends a heartfelt thank you for everything our teachers do to make the classroom a fun place to learn, a safe and a great place to discover special gifts and superpowers. Teaching is often a thankless job, but St. Mary and Vermilion CAA and Head Start thanks teachers for listening, advocating change for good, and being a support system beyond the classroom for so many. They all are the true heroes.”
