Candidates signing up this week for Oct. 24 elections

Qualifying for the Oct. 24 election continues in St. Mary Parish and statewide.
Incumbents Sen. Bret Allain, Adeline, Dist. 21, and Rep. Sam Jones, Franklin, Dist. 50, both remain unopposed as of 9:30 this morning. Incumbent Rep. Joe Harrison, Dist. 51, faces Beryl Adams Amedee of Gray for that seat.
Eddie Guidry of St. Martinville, Nicholas “Nick” LaRocca of Morgan City, and Lewis Pitman of New Iberia, are vying for the judgeship in the 16th Judicial District Court Division D race.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s candidates incumbent Mark Hebert and rival Blaise Smith, both of Franklin, have qualified.
Parish Clerk of Court Cliff Dressel of Franklin, Assessor Jarod K. Longman of Morgan City, and Coroner F.H. “Chip” Metz of Morgan City, are all unopposed as of this morning. Parish president candidate David Hanagriff of Centerville is also the only candidate to qualify in that race.

—Dist. 2: Ella P. Hamilton, Franklin.
—Dist. 3: Paul Gil of Patterson, Rodney P. Olander of Franklin and Dale J. Rogers of Franklin.
—Dist. 4: No candidates have qualified.
—Dist. 5: Ken Singleton, Patterson.
—Dist. 6: Gabriel Beadle, Berwick.
—Dist. 7: James W. Bennett Jr., Morgan City.
—Dist. 8: Incumbent Sterling Fyou, Morgan City.
—Dist 9, at-large: Marc R. Bruno of Jeanerette, William Paul Frost of Centerville and Paul P. Naquin Jr. of Baldwin.
—Dist. 10, at-large: incumbent Steve F. Bierhorst of Patterson and Reginald D. Weary of Patterson.
—Dist. 11, at large: Kevin J. Voisin, Morgan City.
—Alderman, Town of Baldwin (unexpired term): Donald R. Grimm and Phil Prejean.
Qualifying continues through Thursday.
