Center Theater renovations

Plans to begin restoration of the Center Theater in Franklin are on the books. Renovation will be done in phases. Mayor Raymond Harris attempted to come up with an idea that would be both cost effective and functional while beautifying the city. A rendering by Leon Steele of the Louisiana Main Street Program includes a visitors center and a small sugar cane museum with an interior courtyard right in the center of downtown. The right-side alley will be named “Teche Alley” to encourage additional access to Bayou Teche from Main Street. The lawn facing Bayou Teche will allow for outdoor events such as movies and concerts.
