Charenton woman admits she faked attack at her home

Charges have been filed against a Charenton woman accused of falsely claiming she was attacked Friday at her home.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said Megan T. Dugas, 28, of 7951 La. 87, Charenton, was arrested Tuesday at 12:11 p.m. on a charge of criminal mischief after allegedly falsely reporting that she was attacked in her home Friday by two black males armed with a handgun.
The detective investigating the case reportedly discovered that Dugas recently spent a sum of money consistent with the amount she reported stolen from her home during the alleged invasion.
Dugas reportedly admitted to investigators that she filed a false complaint. She was released on a summons to appear in court on October 13.
Dugas claimed she was kicked and punched and described her attackers as black, one husky and the other thin.
She claimed to have gotten away and fled to a nearby residence.
Reports indicate that medical personnel at Franklin Foundation Hospital listed Dugas in stable condition, but Traci Landry, sheriff’s spokes person, said the wounds included bruising from a previous injury a few days before and also some that were “self-inflicted.”
