Child 'OK' after being hit by Patterson police car

An 11-year-old boy was on his way to Teche Regional Medical Center about 2 p.m., after being struck by a Patterson police car.
The boy, whose name was not released, was crawfishing in a ditch at the corner of Red Cypress Road and Domino Drive with two other boys when he darted across Red Cypress Road, Patterson Assistant Chief Gary Stevenson said.
The officer, Craig Verdine, was driving down Red Cypress from U.S. 90 when the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. today.
“This kid here runs across the street. He never did look,” Stevenson said.
The assistant chief said the child was going to be transported to the hospital, but that he is OK.

Comments

The poor lil boy was probably excited about catching a crawfish in the ditch and just ran out of excitement. Thank God he is ok bc the police officers comment didn't have one bit of care in it.
