Children’s Krewe of Nike plans coronation Saturday

The Krewe of Adonis held the first ball of the Mardi Gras in the Tri-City area last weekend. Two krewes will hold tableaus Saturday.
Following Saturday, five balls will remain on the local schedule. Six parades will be held from Feb. 28 through Fat Tuesday, March 4.
Two anniversary celebrations will be highlighted. The Krewe of Galatea will celebrate 45 years and the Krewe of Dionysus will recognize 35 years of revelry.
Officials from each krewe remind ball patrons that events begin promptly as scheduled and all viewers should be seated prior to the published start times.
Krewe of Nike
The children’s Krewe of Nike will have its 43nd coronation Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Morgan City Auditorium. Floor seating is invitation only.
Making a farewell appearance will be King and Queen Nike XLII Cooper LeBlanc and Quincee Wiggins. LeBlanc is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles “Jay” LeBlanc. Wiggins is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jarrod Wiggins.
Members of the krewe will parade this year with the Krewe of Galatea at 2 p.m. March 2 in Morgan City.
St. Mary AARP
St. Mary AARP Mardi Gras Court and Ball celebrates its 26th year. The event will be held Saturday at the St. Mary Senior Citizens Center in Morgan City. The coronation will take place at 7 p.m. followed by the ball and dinner. Admission is by pre-sold ticket only.
Bidding adieu will be King and Queen XXV Donald and Shirley Akers.
The krewe has no plans to parade.
Krewe of Galatea
The women’s Krewe of Galatea will celebrate its 45th year with a coronation at 8 p.m. Feb. 15 at the auditorium. This is an invitation-only event.
Making an appearance will be Queen and King of Galatea XLIV Mrs. Charlie Solar Sr. and Herbert J. Adams Jr.
Galatea will host its annual parade at 2 p.m. March 2 in Morgan City. The procession will organize on Second Street in Morgan City under the U.S. 90 Grizzaffi Bridge and proceed north to Onstead Street, Sixth Street, Marguerite Street (where a toast will take place at the reviewing stand), Ninth Street, Clothilde Street and Victor II Boulevard, ending at the auditorium.
Krewe of Amani
The Krewe of Amani will also hold a tableau Feb. 15. The event at the Patterson Area Civic Center has floor seating for $20 with tickets available from krewe members. Balcony viewing for the 8 p.m. coronation is $5.
Saying farewell will be King and Queen Amani XVI Kenyon Allen and Amber Grogan.
Amani will hold its Lundi Gras parade at 2 p.m. March 3. The procession will line up at Patterson High School and proceed down La. 182 (Main Street) and end at the Place Norman Shopping Center.
Krewe of Dionysus
On Feb. 22, the Krewe of Dionysus will present its 35th coronation at the Berwick Civic Complex. An 8 p.m. start is planned for the invitation-only event. Balcony viewing is available free to the public.
Bidding adieu will be King and Queen Dionysus XXXIV Mark Seibert and Destini Barrilleaux.
This year’s alternating Dionysus parade will be held at 2 p.m. March 1 in Berwick.
The procession will line up on Gilmore Drive and turn left on John Street, right on Robichaux Street, right on Mount Street, left on Gilmore, right on La. 182, right on Tournament Boulevard, right on Fairview then right on Pattie Drive where it will disband at Berwick Junior High School.

Dionysus will hold an After Parade Dance. Tickets, $10, are available from any board member. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Krewe of Hannibal
Also on Feb. 22, the Krewe of Hannibal will host its 34th ball at 8 p.m. at the auditorium. Floor seating is invitation only. Balcony viewing is $5.
Saying farewell will be King and Queen Hannibal XXXIII Patrick M. LaSalle and Terez J. Boston.
Krewe members will parade with Dionysus.
Krewe of Hephaestus
The Krewe of Hephaestus, the oldest local krewe, will hold the last coronation court in the Tri-City area at 8 p.m. March 1 at the auditorium. This invitation-only event has free balcony viewing for the public.
Making an appearance will be King and Queen Hephaestus LIII Kenneth Cefalu and Abigail Conrad.
Hephaestus will parade Fat Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Morgan City.
The parade will organize at the corner of Sixth and Sycamore streets in Morgan City, proceed down Sixth Street to Marguerite Street, Ninth Street, Clothilde Street, and Victor II Boulevard, ending at the auditorium.
Siracusa/Greenwood
The Siracusa/Greenwood Mardi Gras Parade will also be held Fat Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Siracusa Subdivision near Morgan City.
Participants will line up on Siracusa Road at 1 p.m. and proceed to James Street and Grace Street before ending at the Siracusaville Recreation Center.
