Children's Theatre play goes on stage Friday, Saturday

The 34th annual production of the Children’s Theatre of Morgan City will be held Friday and Saturday at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
This year’s show, “Surf’s Up,” a Beach Boys-style musical comedy celebrating the 1960s, will feature 29 area children ages 7 to 17.
Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission at the door is $5 per person 4 years to adult. Children 3 and under are free.
The show is about a cranky old Italian immigrant, Luigi Barone, that owns the “Surfin’ Burger” hangout on the best surfing beachfront on Kahuna Beach in California. He, his daughter and his three granddaughters serve up Italian food to the teen surfers, a couple of aging beatniks who speak in poetry and bongo drums and other assorted customers.
Beach Boys-style music with large chorus numbers is expected to have the audience tapping its toes.
