Mayor Raymond Harris Jr. said this morning that the city is addressing discolored water in Franklin.
“We’re draining water tower (near Foster Street), and we think water getting into the system is coming from tower,” Harris said.
Several months ago, the tower was opened for inspection, but high winds for a few days delayed closure, Harris said. It’s possible the wind blew in things like dust and leaves that is now discoloring the water as it leaves the tower.
Harris said the city is preparing to drain the water tower and have it cleaned. Crews are flushing lines throughout the city.
The mayor said the discoloration is not a health issue.
