City elections coming up

Qualifying opened at the St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court’s office this morning for Franklin mayor and council. From left are Mayor Pro Tempore Lester Levine, Councilman Joe Garrison and Mayor Raymond Harris, Clerk of Court Cliff Dressel, Councilman Eugene Foulcard and Councilman Dale Rogers. Councilman Chuck Autin qualified for relection later in the morning, and former city councilman Kenny P. Scelfo Sr. qualified for mayor. Qualifying began at 8:30 a.m. and continues through 4:30 p.m. with the last day to qualify on Friday. The election is April 5, and the general election will be held May 3 in the event of any runoffs.
