Early voting

There were 1,854 votes cast in St. Mary Parish through Saturday for the Nov. 4 election, according to Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe.
Tuesday is the last day for early voting.
On Saturday, 281 people in the parish voted early with 150 votes cast in Franklin and 131 ballots cast in Morgan City, according to the registrar’s report.
As of Saturday, a total of 1,854 votes were broken down into 965 Democrats, 624 Republicans and 265 of other party affiliations.
Comparing the fifth day of early voting for the Nov. 4 election to the same day of voting for Oct. 22, 2011, voting is a bit slower this year.
The two elections had a comparable slate of state and local candidates on the ballot.
According to information provided by Holcombe, there were 407 more votes cast in 2011 than this year. The breakdown was 1,281 Democrats, 694 Republicans and 286 of other party affiliations.
Of the 33,498 total registered voters, Holcombe said there are 16,441 Democrats, 8,130 Republicans and 8,927 registered as something other than the two major parties.

—United States Representative, 3rd Congressional District.
—Judge, 16th Judicial District, Election Section 1, Division G & H.
—Judge, 16th Judicial District, Election Section 2, Division A.
—Justice of the Peace, Wards 2, 5, 7, 8 and 10.
—Constable, Wards 4, 5, 9 and 10.
—Mayor, Town of Baldwin.
—Aldermen, Town of Baldwin (five to be elected).
—Chief of Police, Town of Baldwin.
—Mayor, Town of Berwick.
—Councilmen, Town of Berwick (five to be elected).
—Mayor, City of Patterson.
—Councilmembers, City of Patterson (five to be elected).
—Chief of Police, City of Patterson.
—St. Mary Parish School Board Member, District 9.
—Constitutional Amendments (14).
—Parishwide Home Rule Charter Amendments Propositions (four).
Early voting continues through Tuesday. Hours for early voting will be from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Early voting is conducted at the registrar’s office on the third floor of the courthouse and at the registrar’s branch office in Morgan City at 301 Third St. Voters may cast ballots early in either office regardless of their addresses.
In St. Martin Parish, early voting ends Tuesday at the St. Martin Parish Water District 1 building, 1073 Tower Tank Road, Stephensville.
