Early voting begins Saturday for Dec. 6 election

Early voting for the Dec. 6 election begins Saturday at the Registrar of Voters Office in the St. Mary Parish Courthouse and the registrar’s branch office in Morgan City, Registrar Jolene Holcombe said in a news release.
Hours for early voting are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and early voting will go through Nov. 29, the release said. The registrar’s office will be closed Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holidays, the release stated.
The Registrar of Voters offices are located on the third floor of the Parish Courthouse in Franklin and at 301 Third St. in Morgan City. Voters may cast their ballots at either office regardless of their addresses, the release said.
Issues and races on the ballot in St. Mary Parish include the runoff for U.S. senator, a runoff for 16th Judicial District Court judge, Division G; runoffs for Justice of the Peace in Wards 5, 7 and 10; runoff for Baldwin police chief; and the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement District one-half percent sales tax proposition, the release said.
