FFH celebrates staff for National Hospital Week

From providing treatment and comfort to the sick to welcoming new life into the world, Franklin Foundation Hospital’s the leader in healthcare for west St. Mary Parish.
During National Hospital Week, May 8-14, FFH will celebrate their staff, managers, physicians, volunteers and board members with activities and special tokens of appreciation.
“National Hospital Week, first and foremost, is celebration of people,” Craig Cudworth, acting CEO, said. “We are extremely proud of each member of our FFH family and we recognize the important role they play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and communities.”
“Activities are planned all week to show appreciation and recognition to our FFH family,” Dawn Kaiser-Melancon, Director of Business Development and Marketing, said. “We are kicking off a new FFH marketing, ‘There’s A Department For That.’ We want local residents in the FFH service area to know that we have the services to meet their needs and that we can take care of them.”
There will be an open house on May 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for members of the community to visit FFH and receive free screenings such as blood pressure checks, heart rate, pulse oximetry, as well as lab testing too, including PSA for men, lipid panel, thyroid and hemoglobin A1C. Refreshments will be served.
The labor and delivery unit will unveil a new look on May 12th during National Hospital Week as well. Decor in the L&D Rooms and unit are being updated as well as introducing a lactation room. The lactation room is a designated space for mothers that are breast-feeding to enjoy the experience in a quaint setting, or so working mothers are able to go to the lactation room to pump their breast milk for their babies.
First, second and third grade students from school campuses in the west side of the parish were invited to participate in a poster contest targeting the theme “Health Care from the Heart.” Winners will be announced on May 12, in each grade with first, second and third places awarded. All participants will be recognized. Posters were submitted the week of April 28. All posters will be displayed during National Hospital Week.
Franklin Foundation Hospital has approximately 200 support staff and professionals. FFH ranks in the top 20 of employers in west St. Mary Parish; 69 percent of FFH staff members live in St. Mary Parish. In 2016, a FFH staff member will celebrate a golden anniversary.
