FFH ranks well in reports

Franklin Foundation Hospital has scored well on recent health reports.
Hospital Service District 1 Commissioner Dr. Roland Degeyter told other commissioners Thursday during their monthly meeting that the annual Value Based Purchasing report from the state hospital association placed FFH’s performance in the 97th percentile in the areas of acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure and pneumonia, which falls below state and national averages. He added, however, that the hospital was ranked first in the surgical care improvement project out of more than 3,000 hospitals nationally and 77 hospitals statewide.
The hospital also scored at or above the 90th percentile on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, a standardized survey of patients’ perspectives of hospital care.
Chief Nursing Officer Jennifer Wise noted that Foundation’s HCAHPS scores were higher in almost all areas than those of comparison hospitals. The hospital fell in the just below the 70th percentile in the areas of communication with patients about medication and hospital cleanliness.
In other discussions Thursday, the board heard from Chief Financial Officer Ron Bailey that the hospital realized a $128,453 surplus in December, the third month of the fiscal year. The year to date bottom line is at $117,342. Total patient revenue on the month was just over $3.1 million; net revenue was $1.5 million; and operating expenses were almost $1.9 million.
Also, interim Chief Executive Officer Lynn Beasley said the new medical office building under construction adjacent to the hospital is less than 90 days from its scheduled completion in April.
The board met in executive session to discuss the continuing search for a new CEO.
