Fire call Wednesday

Franklin Fire Department personnel responded at 4:16 p.m. Wednesday to a reported fire at the Crossing Place Church, 1096 Northwest Blvd. The caller reported smoke coming from the rear of the kitchen area. Franklin FD responded with five units and 11 members and was backed up by Baldwin, Chitimacha, Centerville and District 11 fire departments as well as Acadian Ambulance. At the height of the incident there were 11 units and 38 firefighters on scene. The fire cause was a malfunctioning motor assembly on an air conditioning unit located in a void area between the ceiling and roof. Firefighters cleared the building of smoke with ventilation fans limiting damage.
