Four Mile Bayou Road asphalting funded

Legislators have secured $275,000 in state capital outlay funding to finish asphalting Four Mile Bayou Road in Stephensville, which was previously a gravel road, State Rep. Sam Jones, D-Franklin, said.
The first third of Four Mile Bayou Road, which stretches seven miles, was paved in 2013, Jones said. The second third of the road is being paved, he said. Paving work began about two years ago, he said.
Jones expects the total project cost to come in at about $1.2 million between St. Martin Parish and state funding, he said.
Legislators have allocated money in the state budget to complete the road, he said. That money should be available to use later this year or early 2015, Jones said. St. Martin Parish will put up matching funds to finish the roadwork, he said.
St. Martin Parish President Guy Cormier and St. Martin Parish Councilman Carroll Delahoussaye have assisted in acquiring the funding, he said. Public officials worked to get funding incrementally and now the completion of the project is in sight, Jones said. Jones hopes for the project to be finished by the end of 2015, he said.
