FVFD names scholarship recipient

The Franklin Volunteer Fire Department has awarded its 2014 E. Louis Boudreaux Memorial Scholarship to Olivia Gilbert.
Olivia Gilbert is a graduating senior at Berwick High School. She maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her four years and achieved many honors for her studies and extracurricular activities. She plans to attend Tulane University pursuing a degree in neuroscience.
Franklin Volunteer Fire Department President Toddy Boudreaux said the scholarship was established in honor and memory of E. “Louis” Boudreaux, a 20-plus year member of the Franklin Fire Department who passed away last year. Louis was a dedicated firefighter who helped guide the fire service of St. Mary Parish for many years.
Boudreaux said Olivia is a deserving individual and the department is proud that she received the honor of being the first recipient of the E. Louis Boudreaux Memorial Scholarship.
