Gas prices down slightly in Louisiana

Louisiana’s average retail gasoline price fell .6 cents per gallon in the last week and now averages $2.52 a gallon, according to a survey by the GasBuddy.com website.
This compares with the national average that has not moved in the last week to $2.76.
Including the change in gas prices in Louisiana during the past week, prices yesterday were 90.9 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 4.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 3.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 85.0 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
“With the exception of the West Coast, last week saw gas prices moving lower in many regions,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst. “And last week the story at the pump has been completely about the West Coast. Pump prices have surged as a result of a hopefully temporary stoppage of gasoline imports into the West Coast, which the region has relied upon thanks to earlier year refinery issues.
“Areas of California have set new records for highest single day price increase, and prices will continue to advance for a few more days before things cool off.”
The biggest weekly declines were:

—Michigan, -11.4 cents
—Alaska, -2.7 cents.
