A 22-year-old man and a 67-year-old man, both from Bayou Vista, were arrested Tuesday in the aggravated rapes of an 11-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

  • Corey Adams, 22, of the 1400 block of Evergreen Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants for aggravated rape.
  • Rodney Adams, 67, of the 1400 block of Evergreen Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for aggravated rape.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Traci Landry said detectives learned that the men are grandfather and grandson.
On Oct. 5, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible rape of two juveniles from local hospital personnel. Following an investigation, Cory Adams is charged for the aggravated rape of an 11-year-old female and a 16-year-old female.
Rodney Adams is also charged for the aggravated rape of the 11-year-old girl. Detectives located Corey Adams and Rodney Adams at their residence on the warrants. Both were jailed. No bail is set.
Due to the nature of the crimes, no more information is being released to the public, Landry said.
