Harrison named American Legislative Exchange Council’s Legislator of the Year

The American Legislative Exchange Council recently named Rep. Joe Harrison, R-Gray, the national “Legislator of the Year.”
The award is granted by the board of directors of the organization, which is made up of more than 1,800 lawmakers from more than a dozen states.
The award is given to a state legislator who is a member in good standing and has distinguished himself as a leader in advancing, introducing or enacting policies based on fundamental Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, federalism and individual liberty.
“It is an honor to be recognized by my peers as Legislator of the Year,” Harrison said. “I’ll continue to represent Louisiana to the best of my abilities and uphold these values while working with my fellow members of the legislature to meet the needs of our citizens.”
Harrison will receive the award at ALEC’s annual meeting in Dallas July 31.
