Head-on crash kills 2 unrestrained drivers on La. 70 in Assumption Parish

Two drivers lost their lives in a head-on crash on La. 70 shortly before 6:30 a.m. Sunday, a Louisiana State Police Troop C news release stated.
A 1993 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on La. 70 in Pierre Part driven by Lester Albarado, 51,of Pierre Part, police said. As the Tacoma was traveling north on La. 70, it failed to negotiate a right hand curve, crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane of the highway where it struck a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado head-on, police said.
The Silverado was being driven by Gabriel Plaisance, 57) of Pierre Part, police said.
Both drivers, who were not wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead on the scene by a Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office representative, police said.
Impairment is unknown at this time, and routine toxicology tests are pending for both drivers, police said.
State Police reminded that while not all crashes are survivable, proper use of seat belts can greatly decrease an occupant’s chance of death and may greatly reduce the extent of injury. Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night.
State Police asked that motorists witnessing hazardous situations call *LSP (*577) to report that activity.
