Head Start parade is Jan. 31

St. Mary Community Action Agency will kick off its Head Start recruitment process with the 21st annual Krewe of Head Start Parade.
The parade will travel through the streets of Franklin Saturday, Jan. 31. The purpose of the parade is to recruit new students by highlighting the agency and most importantly the children’s accomplishments throughout the year.
KBZE 105.9 FM radio personality “DJ Fab,” Josh Singleton, is this year’s grand marshal. Singleton was named 2014 DJ of the Year by the Zydeco Blues Trailride Awards Program.
The deadline for all entries is Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 4:30 p.m. Entry forms can be picked up at the central office in Franklin. A completed entry form along with a copy of valid insurance and the entry fee can be brought to the St. Mary CAA Central Office at 1407 Barrow St. in Franklin.
Line up for this year’s parade begins at 11 a.m. in the Franklin Senior High School gated parking area located on 1401 Cynthia St.
Floats and flatbed trucks entry fee is $35; trucks and cars are $25.
Motorcycles clubs can enter for $25; motorcycles are $10 for individual riders.
Dance/Drill teams’ fee is $20; walkers is $5 and horses are $10.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Head Start – The Mini Human Jukebox” which encompasses the many diverse sounds and looks of Head Start students and families including different languages, ethnicities, music preferences and cultural similarities.
