Hearing planned on proposed Berwick development

Berwick town leaders will hear public opinion as to whether they should give preliminary approval for development of a 16.2 acre tract into single family housing residential lots.
As announced in August, Fernand Privat, owner of Privat General Contractors in Lafayette, wants to develop the parcel adjacent to the western edge of Renwick Subdivision.
The subdivision is planned to be accessible from Cloverdale and Victoria drives in Renwick and developed with the same concept as Renwick.
A public hearing on the preliminary approval will be held at 7:15 p.m. today, during the regular meeting of the Berwick Town Council.
The council subsequently will consider an ordinance giving preliminary approval of the subdivision.
Also on the agenda for the 7 p.m. meeting are a resolution giving support for various constitutional amendments on the Nov. 4 ballot and authorization to enter into a seclusion agreement between the parish and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The meeting will be held at town hall and is open to the public.
