Heart Healthy month
To kick off Heart Healthy month, employees at Teche Regional Medical Center wore red shirts to show their support and promote the importance of taking the necessary steps to ensure heart health. The photo was taken Friday when Teche Regional Medical Center celebrated National “Go Red for Women Day.” Eighty-five percent of heart damage occurs within the first two hours of a heart attack, a news release from Teche Regional stated. It is important to recognize the early symptoms such as chest pressure, pain that travels down one or both arms, shortness of breath, nausea, back pain and fatigue, the news release added. If recognized in time, the symptoms can lead to early treatment before the heart is damaged, the news release stated.
