Holiday events abound in area

A variety of events are on tap for Tri-City area residents wishing to partake in holiday festivities with their families.
Nov. 30 through Dec. 31
—The Traditional Idlewild Plantation Christmas Lighting driving tour will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. daily at Kemper Williams Park in Patterson for $2 per car (dependent on weather). Contact 985-395-2298 for more information.
Dec. 1 through 31
—Victorian Christmas at the Grevemberg House with Victorian-style tree and seasonal greenery will be held daily (closed Christmas Eve and Day) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Franklin for $10 per person, $8 for seniors. Contact 337-828-2092 for more information.
—Christmas tree sale by Bayou Vista Community Fellowship, 1523 Anthony St., Bayou Vista, until trees are gone. Selling 5- to 9-foot Frasier firs. Prices start at $35.
—Bernice Street’s Annual Christmas by Candlelight observance in Morgan City will not be held this year. Residents are still invited to drive past the street’s decorations, but no official event will be held. Bernice Street residents hope to reinstate the event next year.

—Junior Auxiliary will host “Santa’s Workshop” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Morgan City High Multi-Purpose Building. Pictures with Santa, arts and crafts, activities and performances by local organizations. All festivities are free of charge.
—City of Franklin 2014 Christmas Parade will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning at the corner of Jackson and Main streets and ending at Courthouse Square with the lighting of the parish tree. Contact 337-828-3631 for more information.

Boy Scout Troop 41, Patterson, will be holding Breakfast with Santa 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tickets, $6, include pancakes and sausage. —A Senior Christmas Dinner will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Senior Citizens Center on Chennault Street in Morgan City. Bingo prior to meal. Head Start children will sing Christmas carols and give out treats. Sponsored by St. Mary Community Action Agency.
—The Wedell-Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill 19th Annual Christmas Tree Festival Exhibit Open House will be held for visitors to view the variety of decorated trees and listen to singing performances by local schools with no admission fee from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Louisiana State Museum in Patterson at Kemper Williams Park. —The United States Marine Corps Reserve Band from New Orleans will hold a Christmas concert for the benefit of the annual Toys for Tots campaign. It will begin at 7 p.m. at the Paul Schreier Theatre in the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. —“Love Lights A Tree” Christmas Tree 16th Annual Lighting Ceremony, hosted by the American Cancer Society and M C Bank & Trust Company, will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the bank office on the corner of Victor II Boulevard and Brashear Avenue in Morgan City. —City of Patterson Christmas Boat Lighting Parade, sponsored by Patterson Economic Development Tourist Committee, will be held at 6 p.m. starting at Cajun Jack and ending at Bridge Road in the Lower Atchafalaya with an award ceremony following afterwards at City Hall in Patterson.
