Japanese restaurant coming to old American Legion site

Geaux Fish, a Japanese restaurant, is set to be built at the former American Legion Hall site on La. 182 next to Lirette Ford after the restaurant’s owner signed a lease agreement Tuesday.
Steven Gao, owner of Geaux Fish, signed the lease agreement with Joey Billiot, who owns the property, Billiot said.
Billiot works for Cleveland Billiot Contractors and said the old gas tanks were removed from the site July 10 in order for Billiot to be able to lease the property, he said. Billiot bought the land two months ago from the American Legion, he said.
Gao said he hopes to be able to open the restaurant in November. “We are trying to do it as soon as possible,” Gao said. He owns another Geaux Fish restaurant in Thibodaux. “We’ve still got a lot of things to do,” Gao said.
According to the restaurant’s website, Geaux Fish serves sushi, sashimi, rolls and hibachi.
