Junior Auxiliary scholarship recipients to study child welfare, development, education

East St. Mary Parish Chapter of Junior Auxiliary recently selected four students to receive scholarships who will be furthering their education in child welfare, child development or education. Ashlynn Bergeron, Y’neisha Dewey, Emily LaCoste and Emma Thomas were the scholarship recipients.
Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s qualifications. As a service organization, JA pays special attention to community service efforts. Junior Auxiliary is a national non-profit organization that encourages members to render charitable services, which are beneficial to the general public, with particular emphasis on children.
East St. Mary Parish was chartered by a group of caring, enthusiastic women in 1993 and continues to grow and thrive throughout East St. Mary Parish. Volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year on a variety of projects that focus on local children and families in need of assistance.
JA of East St. Mary is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, a nonprofit organization founded in 1941 with Headquarters in Greenville, MS. NAJA has more than 13,500 active, associate, and life members in 101 chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas.
