Krewe of Head Start Parade

Staff members, parents and other volunteers made the 2016 St. Mary CAA Krewe of Head Start Parade truly unforgettable.
This year’s theme was “Changing with the Times,” and every float was decorated to fit a certain musical era. The parade had an Eighties float filled with large afros, and wigs, and a Seventies float with vinyl records adorned along the sides and front of it with a real disk jockey in the back paying old school tunes.
Hundreds of parade-goers lined the streets of downtown Franklin hoping to catch some goodies.
This year’s grand marshal, Tyrunn Walker, Detroit Lions football player, enjoyed his time in the parade.
“It’s always fun to be a part of community events, especially those that focus on the children and families,” Walker said.
Also riding in the parade was Parish President David Hanagriff.
The parade is a marketing venue for all the services St. Mary CAA currently offers.
This year the agency has joined forces with the Core 3 Network which encompasses all early learning programs including child care centers, St. Mary School Board and St. Mary/Vermilion CAA Head Start.
The major goal is to make sure those parents of children ages 0 to 5 have feasible choices for early learning programs.
