Memorial Day: A Reminder

Six-year-old Cooper Samuel-Louis Jones often takes walks through the Franklin Cemetery with his grandparents, Rep. Sam Jones and his wife Toni, and his aunt Allison Jones. Allison took this photo of Cooper as he knelt to pray at the grave of a soldier. As the nation observed Memorial Day on Monday, Cooper’s moment of reflection and observance at the grave may serve as a reminder of the sacrifice armed forces members have paid to America. Cooper is a member of the Chitimacha Tribe and is a resident on the reservation with his parents Kristan and Jonathan Jones. He is a kindergarten student at Chitimacha Tribal School.
