Miles Perret Cancer Services announces new iPhone app

LAFAYETTE — Miles Perret Cancer Services has launched its free iPhone app named MPCS (My Personal Cancer Story) app, which allows cancer survivors to keep track of doctors, contact information, appointments, treatment schedules, medical tests and other information.
This app is a mobile version of the MPCS Patient Navigation Notebook — a comprehensive organizational tool used to help keep documents and information easy to find and access.
The app was developed by two UL computer science graduate students, Aaron Newsom and Anh Quang Do, along with Henry Chu, professor of computer science at UL’s Center for Advanced Computer Studies. The app began development last spring.
“Our collaboration with Miles Perret Cancer Services was an excellent opportunity for our students to apply what they had learned to solve a real-world problem,” Chu said. “Cancer touches everyone — sometimes directly and sometimes through caring for a loved one or a friend. We are grateful to be involved in developing this app that can help the patients and their families.”
The app can be downloaded through the iTunes store by searching for MPCS. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. It requires iOS 6.0 or later.
