MLK Day marches on Monday

Two marches are planned in western St. Mary Parish to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday.
The first begins at 9 a.m. at Special Providence Baptist Church in Baldwin. It will end at Trinity United Methodist Church on Main Street where Violet Thompson will be the speaker. The theme of the Baldwin march is “Walking with the King Trying to Reach the Promised Land.”
The Franklin march begins at noon on Martin Luther King Boulevard at the MLK Memorial and will end at Asbury United Methodist Church on Main Street where the Rev. Darrel Briggs will be the speaker of the day.
