New Iberia woman faces charges in February shooting

A 28-year-old New Iberia woman was transferred from Iberia Parish jail to Morgan City jail Friday on a principal to attempted first-degree murder charge stemming from a February drive-by shooting in Morgan City, Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Kimberly Thompson, 28, of New Iberia, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Friday on warrants charging her with four counts of principal to attempted first degree murder, principal to aggravated criminal damage to property, assault by drive by shooting and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Thompson was transported from the Iberia Parish jail to the Morgan City Police Department to be booked on outstanding warrants. The warrants stem from an incident in February, which alleges that Thompson was the driver of a vehicle involved in a shooting on Railroad Avenue, Blair said. Also, inside the vehicle was a 9-month-old baby, police said. Thompson was jailed.
On Feb. 7, Kevin J. Drexler, 30, of New Iberia, La. was charged in connection with the shooting on four counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, assault by drive by shooting, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony contributing to the delinquency of juveniles and possession of a firearm in a firearm free zone.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Artis Jones, 19, of Birch Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with contempt of court.
Jones turned himself in on warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. He was booked and incarcerated.
—Eric D. Swanson, 37, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:49 pm. Saturday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear. Swanson was located at Lake End Park and jailed.
—Corey J. Guyon, 34, of Pierre Part, was arrested at 8:34 p.m. Saturday on the charges of headlights required and driving under suspension.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 70 observed a vehicle with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Guyon was determined to have a suspended driver’s license, Blair said. Guyon was jailed.
—Rayfield Grant, 32, of Iberia Street in Franklin, was arrested at 9:54 p.m. Saturday on the charges of simple battery and criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to Lake End Park in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim, who stated she and Grant had gotten into a verbal altercation, Blair said. During the altercation, the victim said Grant damaged a window on her vehicle, Blair said. After damaging the window, Grant struck her in the face, Blair said. Officers were able to locate Grant in the park area, and he was jailed.
—Charleston Grogan, 20, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Sunday on St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrants charging him with domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Cardinal Street in regard to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and both parties did not want to pursue charges, Blair said.
However, Grogan held outstanding warrants for the 16th Judicial District Court. Grogan was jailed.
—Agustin C. Gutierrez, 32, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. Sunday on the charges of careless operation with an accident and no driver’s license.
Gutierrez was involved in a vehicle crash in the area of Spruce and Maple streets. Gutierrez failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Maple and Spruce streets causing another vehicle to crash into Gutierrez’s vehicle, police said. Gutierrez was jailed.
—Bryan K. Wright, 41, of Gray, was arrested at 11:29 p.m. Sunday on a Terrebonne Parish warrant charging him with monetary instrument abuse.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Gen. Hodges Street in regard to a disturbance.
Wright was located in the residence, and he had an outstanding from Terrebonne Parish. He was jailed.
—Letitia Boudreaux, 39, of Perry Street in Franklin, was arrested at 2:22 a.m. today on the charge of driving under suspension.
—Shauni E. Daigle, 21, of Pierre Part, was arrested at 2:22 a.m. today on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear.
Officers were dispatched to the area of La. 182 near the Greenwood Overpass in regard to a vehicle traveling on its rims. Officers located the vehicle fitting the description in the area of La. 182 near Justa Street, Blair said.
The driver, Boudreaux ,was found to have a suspended driver’s license, Blair said. The passenger, Daigle, held outstanding warrants for the 16th Judicial Court, Blair said. Both jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 108 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Brittany R. Clement, 26, of the 600 block of Lagarde Street in Thibodaux, was additionally charged with resisting an officer by giving false information at 10:28 p.m. Friday. A jailer at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center received information that an inmate being housed at the Morgan City jail had given a false first name of Ashley during booking at the parish jail, Hebert said.
Clement was transported to the parish jail and released on a summons to appear on court Sept. 16.
—Denise Provost, 56, of the 300 block of Talbot Street in Franklin, was arrested at 2:49 p.m. Saturday on the charge of theft of goods. A deputy responding to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista received a description of a suspect vehicle and located the car travelling on U.S. 90 in the Ricohoc area.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and located stolen items in the trunk of the vehicle. With the assistance of store personnel, the deputy positively identified the passenger in the car, Provost, as the woman seen on video surveillance taking items from the store without paying for the goods. The deputy released Provost on a summons to appear in court Sept. 16.
—Paige Henry, 24, of the 7200 block of La. 182 in Franklin, was arrested at 5:09 p.m. Saturday on the charge of theft of goods. While at a store in Bayou Vista, a deputy observed a woman concealing several items in her purse before leaving the store without paying for the goods.
The deputy detained the subject and identified her as Henry. Following an investigation, the deputy released Henry on a summons to appear in court Sept. 16.
—Alex Francois, 36, of the 500 block of Barrow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Saturday on the charges of no driver’s license, no license plate light and on a warrant for failure to comply with the conditions of probation.
A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on La. 182 Frontage Road on a vehicle with no license plate light. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Francois, and learned that Francois did not have a valid driver’s license. The deputy also located an active warrant for Francois’ arrest. Francois was jailed with no bail set.
—Sheila M. Sons, 30, of O Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of remaining where forbidden and possession of Schedule I drugs. Sons turned herself in at the Patterson Police Department on the warrant. Sons was transferred to the parish jail with no bail.

—Lynette Hatten, 34, of the 500 block of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:06 a.m. today on the charge failure to yield to emergency vehicles and driving while intoxicated. Deputies working on U.S. 90 in the Centerville area observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate speed despite the presence of flashing emergency vehicle lights on the roadway.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver identified as Hatten. The deputy observed Hatten stumble as she exited the vehicle, the sheriff said. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test on which Hatten performed poorly, Hebert said. Hatten later registered 0.14 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. A deputy transported Hatten to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Julio Villavicencio, 32, of the 100 block of Railroad Avenue in Gibson, was arrested at 3:27 a.m. today on the charge of second degree aggravated battery.
—Ruth Rivera-Rodriguez, 38, of the 100 block of Landry Court in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 3:27 a.m. today for simple battery.
A deputy responded to a report of a cutting at a business on La. 182 in Amelia. During the investigation, the deputy learned that six suspects were engaged in an argument when Villavicencio produced a knife and cut a 29-year-old man on his arm and torso, Hebert said.
Also during the encounter, Rivera-Rodriguez struck a 34-year-old man, Hebert said. Both victims were transported to Teche Regional Medical Center, the sheriff said. Villavicencio and Rivera-Rodriguez were located in a vehicle at the scene. Following the investigation, both were jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Joshuya Rebardi, 35, of Andras Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. He posted $175 bail.
—Clarence Sheets Jr., 44, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting second offense. He posted $195 bail.
—Annie McIntyre, 31, of John Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:43 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding and on the charges of speeding 36 mph in a 20 mph zone, driving under suspension, possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription and no proof of insurance. She was jailed with no bail set yet.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Jennifer R. Beecher, 30, of the 100 block of Beadle Street in Amelia, was arrested at 8:58 a.m. Sunday on the charges of speeding 70 mph in a 55 mph zone and possession of marijuana first offense. Beecher was released on $2,315 bail.
