One arrest in Hebert Street home burglary

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a local man in connection with an incident on Hebert Street in Franklin earlier this month.
Clarence Sophus, 52, of 124 Bogan Lane, Franklin, was arrested on Monday at 10:05 a.m. on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging him attempted unauthorized use of an access card
On Jan. 14 detectives began an investigation into a report of a residential burglary that occurred on Hebert Street in Franklin. The detective reportedly learned that two suspects entered the home and took a wallet from a resident who was home at the time. The male victim was not injured.
A short time after the crime, the detective reportedly found that Sophus attempted to use one of the victim’s credit cards at a gas station in Houma.
Working with a detective from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office a warrant was obtained for Sophus’ arrest.
A St. Mary detective located Sophus at his residence in Franklin and took him into custody on the warrant. Sophus was booked into the parish jail. Bail is set at $50,000.
