A 48-year-old St. Mary Parish man, who was arrested Wednesday by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on a Harris County, Texas, warrant for indecency, is accused of having inappropriately touched a girl in Houston in July 2011, Houston Police Department spokesman John Cannon said this morning.
On Wednesday, Shade Ratcliff, 48, was arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, on a Harris County, Texas, warrant for indecency. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office news release listed Ratcliff’s address in the 1200 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City. The warrant was filed Oct. 10 in Texas District Court No. 339 through the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Cannon said.
The Harris County Clerk of Court website lists Ratcliff’s address as in the 900 block of Jason Street in Patterson. The charge is listed as indecency with a child. According to the website, Ratcliff posted $30,000 bail.
The charge stems from a July 2011 incident in Houston in which Ratcliff is accused of inappropriately touching a pre-teen girl whom he knows, Cannon said. Police cannot release the age of the girl because Ratcliff knows the victim, and that information could lead to identification of the victim, Cannon said.
Anyone who knows of any other possible victims is encouraged to contact law enforcement authorities, Cannon said. “It doesn’t mean there are necessarily any other victims,” Cannon said.
