PC meets Wednesday

Members of the St. Mary Parish Council will see a presentation at their next meeting Wednesday night from a company that might be in a position to help out a recreational facility in the community that has been ailing financially for years.
Don Shirey with Troon Golf Management will be on hand to provide an introductory presentation to the council on what his company has to offer the Atchafalaya Golf Course at Idlewild. According to information on the company’s website, Troon Golf Management is one of the largest third party management firms in the world.
Other items on the agenda for the parish council include:
—Representatives for Red Ribbon Week will appear to request the adoption of a proclamation supporting Oct. 23-Nov. 1 as Red Ribbon Drug-Free Week in St. Mary Parish.
—Three preliminary and final subdivision approval measures.
—Introduction of four ordinances: an ordinance in compliance with ordinance No. 1973, Division 5.4 General Procedures for Public Hearings, Section 5.4.3 Specific Use Permits granting a Specific Use; an ordinance in compliance with ordinance No. 1973, Chapter 5 Procedures, Division 5.4 General Procedures for Public Hearing, Section 5.4.2 Rezonings (Zoning Map Amendments); an ordinance authorizing the Parish of St. Mary to enter into a lease agreement with the United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service, for lease of office space at the Blevins Building, Franklin, Louisiana.
—Up for adoption is an ordinance amending ordinance No. 1592 effective on August 13, 2003; Creating the Atchafalaya Golf Course Commission, and designating the responsibilities, powers, and selection of said commission.
The council meets at 6 p.m. at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse on the fifth floor.
