Police: Man faces drug charges after attempt to flee from officers

A 29-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Wednesday on multiple drug charges and warrants after an attempt to flee from officers, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Fred Kenner, 29, of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:36 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and hydrocodone, resisting an officer, and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous sub-stance laws.
Kenner was also arrested on warrants for failure to appear for possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to appear for resisting an officer, probation violation, probation and parole.
Officers responded to a local motel on Brashear Avenue in an attempt to locate Kenner, who had active arrest warrants through the 16th Judicial District Court and Probation and Parole.
The officers arrived when Kenner was observed leaving one of the rooms. As officers approached, reports indicated that Kenner fled on foot but was apprehended by the officers moments later.
During a search, officers located suspected cocaine and hydrocodone which were believed to be packaged for distribution along with suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The location of the incident was within the area of a drug free zone in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Kenner was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Blair also reported the following arrest:
—Jamie Broussard, 25, of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday on charges of driving under suspension and hit and run.
Officers responded to the intersection of Sixth Street at Onstead Street in regard to a vehicle accident. While responding, officers were notified that one of the vehicles involved had fled the scene.
A description of the vehicle was provided when officers located a vehicle matching the description provided on Franklin Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Broussard.
During an investigation, reporting indicate the officers uncovered evidence of Broussard's involvement in the crash and fleeing the scene. A driver’s license check revealed that Broussard had a suspended license.
Broussard was placed un-der arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 32 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Justin Scarbrough, 24, of the 1200 block of Delmar Avenue in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:37 p.m. Wednesday on a charge for domestic abuse battery.
Deputies were dispatched to a report of a disturbance in progress at the address listed above on Delmar Avenue. Dispatchers also received information that a male subject, identified as Scarbrough, threatened a victim with a gun.
Deputies arrived at the residence and also made contact with the complainant who was at a separate location. Deputies searched the house and surrounding area for the suspect and located Scar-brough as he walking towards the house. Scarbrough was detained.
During the course of the investigation, deputies found evidence that Scarbrough repeatedly yelled threats at a female victim and pushed her. Deputies did not find evidence that Scarbrough used a weapon during the encounter. Scarbrough was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set. The case remains under investigation.
—Alyssa L. Sauce, 20, of the 1200 block of Delmar Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During a search of the Delmar Avenue residence related to a complaint of a disturbance in progress, deputies located a small amount of marijuana and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Sauce was released on a summons to appear in court on Dec. 14.
—Leon Sylvester, 32, of the 100 block of Pluto Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery.
A deputy obtained the warrant after investigating a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista on Sept. 10.
The deputy collected evi-dence that Sylvester struck a female victim in the face and pushed her to the floor during an argument that occurred in August. Sylvester turned himself in on the warrant at his residence.
A deputy transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Nicholas Kapp, 22, of the 100 block of Billiot Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Kapp remains jailed. Bail is set at $3,500.
—Kashod Johnson, 24, of the 3700 block of Highway 1 in Napoleonville, was arrested at 12 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of disturbing the peace, resisting an officer by giving false information and a warrant with St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear.
Johnson remains jailed. Bail is set at $1,750.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
